The 10th Grade class celebrated the Rite of Transition on Sunday, April19 at the 5:30 pm mass. This formally begins their final year of preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation.

The First Communion celebrated their formal Enrollment for Prayer on April 19 at the 11am Mass.

Most Holy Mother of Charity, who came to us as a messenger of peace across the sea, you are the Mother of all. To you we come, Most Holy Mother of God, to honor you with love as your children. To your motherly heart we entrust our desires and hope, our work and our prayers. We pray for our countries, that we may be able to build nations based on peace and unity. We pray for our families, that they may live in fidelity and love. We pray for our children, that they may grow strong in spirit and in body. We pray for our young people, that their faith may increase, as well as their attachment to the truth. We pray for the sick, the homeless, the lonely, the exiled, and for all suffering souls. We pray for the Catholic Church, for its mission, for its clergy, religious, and laity and espeically for our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI. Mother of Charity! We palce ourselves under your mantle of protection! Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus! To Him be the glory and the power, now and forever. Amen.

10th and 11th Grade meet for their classes in the Confirmation process each week on Wednesday at 7pm

-The Second Sunday of Lent is know as 'Transfiguration Sunday.' This is the Sunday in which we relive the 'changing' of Jesus into his divine state while still living. This accompanying image was painted by Fra Angelica, a Dominican Monk who lived between 1395-1455. A brilliant 'illuminator' (painter) Fran Angelica was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 1982--523 years after his death. John Paul II stated: 'Agelica was reported to say 'He who does Christ's work must stay with Christ always'. This motto earned him the epithet 'Blessed Angelica', because of the perfect integrity of his life and the almost divine beauty of the images he painted...to a superlative extent those of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

THE FIRST STATION, JESUS TAKES UP HIS CROSS

This Sunday, February 22, 2009, we hear the Markan portrayal of a paralytic being lowered through the roof. 'Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof...and let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying (Mk 2:1-12). Let us as Holy Family Church go to 'heroic' measures to help one another. Let us go to the 'extremes' to reach Jesus.

According to Leviticus 13:47-58, leprosy was regarded as a punishment for sin. According to Lev 13:45-56 the person with leprosy '...shall wear torn clothes and have disheved hair, and shall live alone outside the city. They shall cry out in public about themselves: 'Unclean! The Holy Family Parish Msgr. Leech Knights of Columbus Council is frying up a delicious catfish dinner each Friday in Lent. With catfish, potato salad, cole slaw,and optional dessert, this is a delicious way to help your parish and abstain from meat...in the SVdeP School Cafeteria: eat in or take out. Fridays 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, 3/20, 3/27 and 4/3. PROCEEDS GO TO BUILDING OUR NEW CHURCH.

On the contrary, perhaps the physical cures which came abundently from the Lord took much of His energy...that it exhausted His human body. We, as Catholics are a people of imagery, word, sacrament, and unseen grace. God is one but God cannot yet be seen face to face. Finalization of plans for the new Church of the Holy Family are in full process. Over the past several months, the Holy Family Building Committee, with Msgr. Ken Hedrick, our Liturgical Consultant, in collaberation with Baron and Toups Architects, have been engaged in 'brainstorming' sessions to complete the conceptual phase of our new church. We praise God, our Father, with Jesus Christ his son for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the Holy Family, pray for us!
